Week 6
Well, this is it. Our last meeting. The culminating "project" for this short course is an established social media presence, due next Saturday. Please send me an email listing your 5-6 presences, or take screen shots and send them to me via Padlet.
However, first, we'll explore About.Me and all things Google. Originally an Internet browser, Google (the company) has taken on some of the world's largest entities. It offers (for free) virtually anything that a business, student, or entrepreneur could possible want—document suite (that's replacing Office in many environments), cloud computing, email, social media, web site creation, photo editing, 3-D modeling, maps, translators, and so much more.
I've enjoyed working with you for the past six weeks and hope that what you've learned is useful. And don't forget, as a Takoda student, you qualify for job services. Just call the front desk to make an appointment to speak with Meg. Good luck, best wishes, and keep in touch! Elise

ABOUT.ME
This site lets you "point" visitors to your content on the Web. It's characterized by a one-page user profile placed over a large (often artistic) background image and abbreviated autobiography. It's available as an app from iTunes. If you're job-hunting, you could add your "about.me" link to each resume and cover letter you send out. By making those links "live," you'll enable potential employers (and customers) to head to your overview from which they can visit all the social media you've created. |
